Diagnostic Care

Radiology

Radiology

Radiographs (x-rays) are one of the most powerful tools used when diagnosing your pet. Because your pet deserves the best, Kings Veterinary Hospital uses state-of-the-art x-ray technology as part of your pet's diagnostic plan. X-rays are used to pinpoint the location and severity of bone fractures, detect signs of heart disease, identify tumors and locate foreign bodies (bones, toys, etc.) that may be inside your pet's stomach, among other diagnostic uses.

Ultrasound

Ultrasound Diagnostics

During an ultrasound examination, high-frequency soundwaves are used to produce a real-time moving image of your pet's internal organs. Ultrasound is most often used in examinations of abdominal organs, cardiac evaluations and pregnancy examinations. Kings Veterinary Hospital uses quality veterinary ultrasound equipment. All ultrasound examinations are performed by our veterinarians, along with an internal medicine specialist.

Endoscopy & Otoscopy

Otoscopy

An endoscope is used to diagnose problems of the gastrointestinal (GI) tract. Kings Veterinary Hospital uses the MedRx veterinary videoscope for endoscopy and otoscopy procedures. MedRx is the leader in veterinary imaging equipment and Kings Veterinary Hospital is proud to offer our clients this advanced technology.

An endoscope uses a rigid tube equipped with a lighted camera that transmits images to a monitor. This monitor acts as the veterinarian's "eye" and allows us an up-close view of the gastrointestinal tract, cancerous growths and polyps and foreign bodies.

The endoscope is most often used for diagnosing GI disorders, obtaining biopsy samples and removing foreign bodies. Endoscopic procedures are less invasive than major surgery and your pet often can go home the same day following an endoscopic procedure.

Otoscopy

The MedRx videoscope is also used for otoscopy, a procedure similar to endoscopy that targets the ear. We use otoscopy for ear visualization, diagnostics and treatment.

Glaucoma Screening

Glaucoma can effect our pets. We have an instrument called the Tono-Pen which allows us to test intra-ocular eye pressure and screen for glaucoma. We follow the recommendations established by the Veterinary Ophthalmologic Society. We work closely with our local veterinary ophthalmologist at Medvet Eye Clinic to manage your pet's eye care needs.

In-House Laboratory

Lab Screening

When your pet is sick, he or she cannot tell us what is wrong. Physical examinations and diagnostic tests may only give us part of the diagnostic picture. Kings Veterinary Hospital is equipped with a state-of-the-art in-house laboratory capable of processing dozens of laboratory values. Our laboratory is capable of processing many tests, including complete blood counts, heartworm tests, urine and fecal exams and many more. We also utilize an outside reference laboratory for some cases. Our specially trained veterinary technicians can quickly and accurately process your pet's laboratory tests, leading to faster treatment for your best friend.
